International Yoga and World Music Day was celebrated in NPS Whitefield by the staff and students on 21st June with great fervor. The entire school participated in various breathing exercises. They performed Vrikshasana-tree pose, Garudasana-eagle pose, Veerbadrasana-warrier pose, Marjariasana-cat pose, Natarajasana-dancer pose, Chakrasana-wheel pose, Padmasana-Lotus pose. Guided by their teachers the tiny tots of KG2 performed simple asanas that improve concentration and strengthen the mind and body. A meditation session followed. Children were happy to take home their colorful Yoga Badges. The Yoga instructor emphasized that one who performs yoga regularly is said to achieve a perfect balance between mind and body and is capable of coping with stress better than people who don’t follow the discipline. It was a great experience for the students and they felt encouraged to include Yoga in their daily life.
'Fête de la Musique' meaning ‘festival of music’ started with a special assembly presented by the teachers of the Performing Arts department of NPS Whitefield who presented regional and western melodies about love and peace. Young musicians from the school played their heart out on their instruments and developed a far greater passion towards music. Students conducted ‘rain claps’ activity that required children to mimic drizzle and rain using fingers. Several other activities were also held to mark the day. Music plays a vital role in the overall development of the children. Keeping this view in mind through this event, the school has created awareness among the children, about the importance of music in daily life.
To sum up, the International Yoga day and the World Music Day celebration lifted the student’s spirit with immense joy and their exhilaration was commendable.
