The evening of 15 February, will be engraved on the timeline of NPS Whitefield. The school ground was filled with more than 2000 parents, there was an air of expectation! The parents were eagerly waiting to watch their children participate in the musical extravagance “Umang”, the first mammoth event of the year.
The guests of honour for the evening were; Mr. K G Garg, Chairman NVT Group, Mr. Manoj Ranjan, special Secretary to Government of India and the directors of the school board; Mr. Nitin Garg, Mr. Vivek Garg and Mr. Tanuj Garg. Mrs Shanta Chandran, Principal of the prestigious National Public School Indiranagar was the chief guest for the evening.
Dr. Reetu Thapa, Principal of the school welcomed the gathering. Mrs. Shanta Chandran addressing the parents, said that it was a proud moment for her to be at the school, set up by her students, Tanuj and Vivek Garg. She wished them success in their endeavour to pursue, educational excellence following the standards set by the Chairman of NPS Group of schools, Dr. K P Gopal Krishna.
The two and half hour’s event was packed, full of talent, with vibrant music from across India and the world! “Umang” a music initiative in collaboration with Taaqademy, was developed to celebrate and value music education, every student from Kindergarten 2 to grade 7 participated in the production. The acoustic concert, where students combined the performing Arts areas, of Music and Dance had 1005 students on stage!
The students dressed in resplendent colourful costumes set the stage on fire, with astounding diverse genres of music; Indian classical, devotional, Western, Pop, and Reggae.
The Kindergarten performers looked adorable in their costumes from many countries; Mexican, Hawaiian, Arabian, Dominican, and Indian. The audience was floored by their energetic performance! The Live Bands playing 15 different types of instruments were the high of the day.
The grand finale of the evening was the “Drum Jam” with 90 students on the stage, singing the popular number “Chale Chalo”, to the beat of the Djembe! It left the audience emotionally charged! Quoting the parents, “We had goose bumps Ma’am”.
The perfect stage setting, excellent sound and light system, the flashing LED screens, and Live streaming of the entire concert, took “Umang” to a new high and filled everyone with Exultation, Enthusiasm, Rapture and Gusto! Rabindranath Tagore rightly said, “The world speaks to me in colours; my soul answers in music”
