Christmas, the season to be jolly and exchange gifts, was celebrated by the students of the Pre-primary classes of NPS Whitefield, on Friday, December 20, 2019 with great delight and happiness. The Christmas fervour began a week before with carols being played in school, every morning, afternoon and at dispersal time. On the day of the event, the students were dressed in the Christmas colours of red, white and green along with red caps. To compliment the students’ dress code, the teachers were also attired in red and white.
All the students of the Pre-primary classes assembled in the auditorium to watch each other’s performance. Each and every class performed enthusiastically to the accompaniment of a variety of Christmas carols and songs, and spoke confidently about Christmas and its festivity. All the children were taken by surprise with the appearance of Santa and Rudolf at the end of the programme. The auditorium echoed with the students singing Jingle bells, as long as Santa was amongst the audience, to greet the children and to hand over gifts. To inculcate good values at an early age, the day was enlivened by the ‘joy of giving’ act, wherein the students gifted story books to each other by playing ‘Secret Santa’.
