“There is more treasure in books than in all the pirates' loot on Treasure Island.” – Walt Disney
The Drop Everything and Read (D.E.A.R.) activity was a thoughtfully structured initiative orchestrated by the Library Department on Wednesday, 19 June 2024. This engaging event was designed to cultivate a passion for reading and enrich literary abilities amongst our young learners.
The programme was implemented in two episodes throughout the day – the Morning Assembly Session and the Mid-Morning Session. Supervised by teachers during both the sessions, the students were encouraged to read their favourite book silently. While the Morning Session emphasized on the importance of reading as a daily habit and set a positive tone for the day, the Mid-Morning Session offered students a revitalizing break to recharge and centre themselves through the enjoyment of reading.
Students enthusiastically expressed their appreciation for dedicated reading time and a bonus opportunity to explore new books and engage with literature.Top of Form
The D.E.A.R. activity promoted a culture where both students and teachers learnt to embrace spontaneous reading moments, and cultivate a community of lifelong learners eager to explore the world through books.
