In our EVS class, students of KG2 enjoyed the play-based learning activity on the topic ‘Sink and float’. It is a simple science experiment that encourages children to explore, make predictions and observations. It promotes scientific thinking and students learn to make connections with real life experiences. They brought objects that they thought might sink or float and started by setting up a floating and sinking learning tray where they explored how and why different objects float and sink when placed into water. Children made predictions before placing each object into water as they guessed it may be due to size or weight or construction of the objects. They enjoyed doing the activity repeatedly with different objects and carefully noted the results in an observation sheet.
