The IHS introduced the SEWA (Social Empowerment Work in Action) programme as one of the 5 core areas of the CBSE-I syllabus that was designed to raise awareness on addressing real-world problems and serving the world community.
Keeping this objective in mind, the students of Class 9 undertook the responsibility of spreading awareness among their younger counterparts about the importance of hygiene and keeping their surroundings clean. They meticulously planned, scripted practiced and enacted skits that highlighted the importance on cleanliness in school, personal hygiene and keeping the environment clean. This topic was also in sync with the Government’s ‘Swachch Bharat Abhiyaan’. Banners, posters, humorous anecdotes and impromptu quiz sessions all aided in driving home the message that ‘Keeping our surroundings clean was not an option but a dire necessity of the day’.
