National Youth Day, also popularly known as ‘Yuva Diwas’, is celebrated across the country on 12 January to mark the birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda. The students of National Public School, Whitefield from Classes 1 to 9 celebrated ‘National Youth Day’ on 12 January 2022 honouring the vision and work of Swami Vivekananda, who strived throughout his life towards building a better society and inspired youth with his social services.
An inspiring thought set the tone of this remarkable day to awaken the inner youth of the students set to tune in to commence the assembly. A thought-provoking speech reiterated the importance of the day that we must always value the young energy of the country. The jubilant students, the future youth, looked inspired when they spoke of the teachings of Swami Vivekananda and explained the philosophy in their cute little ways! Some even drew his pictures, coloured them and, wrote slogans to show respect and pay tribute.
Students presented the famous 1893 Chicago speech impersonating our great leader, Swamiji. An informative quiz on the significance of the day was an eye opener to all. The virtual celebration with graceful dance performances, skit and melodious renditions added colour and verve to the day. ‘It’s all within the Mind’ -the theme of National Youth Day 2022, a key teaching of Swami Vivekananda was discussed and pondered upon. With this in mind, the National Youth Day assembly brought forth a zeal among our future stars of the nation to help transform them into a united force for nation building. The special assembly concluded with a pledge from the children to become better citizens, achieve honourable life and, contribute towards the growth of the country. Enthusiastic participation and collaborative efforts of all the students made this event a testimony to the strength of the young minds of today.
Albeit virtual, it was the best way to start the year 2022 with outstretched arms.
