December 7 is commemorated as 'Armed Forces Flag Day' since 1949. This year, Union Defence Minister, Rajnath Singh announced that the whole month of December would be celebrated as 'Armed Forces Flag Day' to honour the martyrs and the men in uniform who fought valiantly and continue to fight on our borders to safeguard the country’s honour. Students of class 7, chose this as the theme for their class assembly on 4 December, to pay tribute to the martyrs and the living heroes who were wounded while doing their duties and to their families who have been a crucial part of this sacrifice.
Pictures of military equipment; submarines, aircrafts, tanks and infantry vehicles were displayed on the screens and their importance in wars and attacks highlighted in their talks. Students also spoke about the medals and gallantry awards and reiterated that Soldiers are one of the greatest assets of any country and they hold a great significance in keeping the country intact.
