Class assembly is an activity aimed at developing individual as well as Life Skills in students. At NPS Whitefield, to arrive at a theme of the Assembly, brainstorming sessions take place, students generate ideas, creative and critical thinking skills are developed. Communication skills are enhanced through non-judgmental listening, showing tolerance and acceptance of other ideas. Speech making, saying a thought or News Reading in front of a large school audience, develops self-confidence, improves self-esteem, assertiveness and help students overcome stage fear. Quizzing a component of the assembly is an activity, where learning takes place in an involved manner.
Drama, Music and Dance, are team building activities, which develop appreciation and aesthetic skills. Both the participants and audience enjoy the fun activity which helps them to relax and de-stress.
Assembly was presented by students of class 7A, at school on 24 July 2019. All the 29 students of the class were put on stage. The thought for the day, speech, and skit were based on the theme “Friendship”. The quizmasters had a question for each of the classes 1 to 7 to answer. The skit about Alexander the Great and Purus, reiterated the importance of friendship. A colorful dance brought the assembly to a close.
